Sensory Disability Training

Hosted by Autism Society on April 24 from 9-3pm CT

 

This comprehensive training will educate the attendees on what autism is and how people are affected by it. They will learn the wide spectrum of autism and the verbal techniques to deal with them. The attendees will be given different tools that can help identify people with autism, sensory disabilities and calming techniques.Attendees will learn the importance of multiple officers' presence when an arrest of an individual with autism is necessary and restraint considerations.

Membership Meetings and Conferences

 

The Alliance will host quarterly membership meetings to discuss current events, internal and external opportunities, and areas of improvement for both the Alliance and its members. Below are the meeting dates and locations for this year.

 

Along with membership meetings, LAA and LRAA will partner with the Arkansas Ambulance Alliance to host its annual southern regional conference in April.

BREAKING NEWS: Jury Reaches Verdict in Elijah McClain Homicide Trial

VERDICT: GUILTY

The two Colorado paramedics on trial for homicide in the death of Elijah McClain have been found GUILTY on some of the criminal counts that were filed against them. Both were found guilty of negligent homicide, and one was found guilty of second-degree assault. The two had been charged with reckless manslaughter, negligent homicide, and assault.

 

A conviction in this case is sending shock waves through the EMS community in the United States. There are major lessons to be learned for EMS practitioners and EMS leaders throughout the country. 

Leveraging DOT Grant Funds for EMS Crash Response Improvement

Learn how EMS Agencies are taking advantage of Department of Transportation (DOT) grant funding opportunities to improve EMS system response to roadside crashes.

 

NHTSA’s Office of EMS will host a discussion with Fire Chief Bruce Evans with the Upper Pine River Fire Protection District and Paul Teicher, Transportation Policy Analyst at U.S. DOT to share information and best practices to help EMS agencies nationwide prepare to apply for the upcoming Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant program.
