Louisiana Medicaid Provider Enrollment Information

If you file claims with Louisiana Medicaid, you must login and submit an enrollment in the new Medicaid Provider Enrollment Portal to continue being reimbursed by

March 31, 2022. In fall 2021, Louisiana Medicaid mailed letters to providers about this enrollment requirement.

​

Our goal is to have each provider enroll during their designated provider week, if not sooner. Please help us achieve this goal by devoting time to your enrollment during the timeframe specified below:

January 10 – February 7, 2022

Emergency Declaration Extended 2/16/2022

​

Last week, Governor Edwards issued another emergency declaration essentially extending the provisions specific to our industry until February 16. Please see the language below which I have taken directly from the Emergency Declaration.

​

The ambulance staffing requirements set forth in La. R.S. 40: 1135.1 (A)(2)(a) hereby remain temporarily suspended as to ambulance drivers, provided that such driver possesses a driver’s license valid in the State of Louisiana and meets the criminal background check requirements of La. R.S. 40: 1203.1, et seq.

Except as expressly suspended herein, all other requirements of La. R.S. 40: 1135.1 shall remain in place, including the requirement that an ambulance be staffed with a minimum of two persons, one of whom shall be a licensed emergency medical technician.

St. Tammany Parish Paramedic EMS1 Article Published​

St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District #1 Fire Operator/Paramedic LJ Relle, who is also one of their EMS Coordinators, got one of his articles picked up by ems1.com. LJ is very progressive and passionate about his role as a paramedic.

​

His article, titled “Fight or Flight: The Pre-hospital Dilemma” was published on EMS1.com  on January 31, 2022. The article dives into the decision to treat on scene or transport should depend on the training and abilities of the responders, not on the equipment at hand.
